The island of Cesária Évora  is known as cultural capital of Cape Verde. 
In November 2002, it was even elected 
Capital of Culture of Portuguese Speaking Countries,
Capital Lusófona de Cultura.

At least, for visitors, it is the very place where to coomb music restaurants, where to look for arts exibitions and where buy nice souvenirs from skilled craftsmen.

São Vicente for Hiking
As a place for hiking, São Vicente it is almost unknown - what does not do justice to the island. There are quite respectable hiking trails through desert, along shores and even to small green mountain oases, places where most inhabitants of Mindelo town never have been in their lifes.
