Outline of Tracks
|
The track allows one to enjoy the valley of Fragata from the height down to the sea with its tiny thatched roofed houses and sugar cane and vegetable cultures on ingenious terraces. Precipices separate the valley from Covoada. Consequently, there is not a single connecting path! Rª Prata is a village built along the street in the lower part of the valley with a picturesque chapel leaned against a huge rock. Starting point is a crossing in the upper third of Rª da Fragata. [FRAG12] (485 m). The mule-track climbs downhill ë on the left-hand slope, crosses a secondary valley, and ì arrives beneath the village of Fragatona, sitting on top a ridge. One does not have to enter it and can circle around è beneath, later continuing é to follow the left-hand slope. The further route to Rª Prata is overlooked already from far. In the upper part of the village one has to keep downhill ì and reach the ground of the valley. After having left this settlement, the way crosses é to the right-hand side of the ribeira. Already within sight of the chapel one has to change back to the left-hand shoulder where to meet the end of the road. [PRATA] (30 m) (shop, telephone, Village Health Post)
