Outline of Tracks
and  Classification

From the pass of Matin’, only a few meters higher than the starting point, a magnificent view is offered over Santa Lucia, São Vicente and Santo Antão. The following descent through the valley of Odjo di Água is not too steep. The migrant community sets characteristics of the cosy clustered village of Praia Branca.

The track is an easy one and recommendable in opposite direction as well, especially if there is an opportunity to arrive by Aluguer from Tarrafal in the early morning. There will be no problems to find another one down to Tarrafal after having arrived in Fajã de Cima in the afternoon.

Starting point is a crossing in the upper third of Rª da Fragata. [FRAG11] (590 m). On almost equal altitude ë it is easy to reach the pass of Matin’. The descent ç follows a ridge right, leading down beneath the rocks of Odjo di Água. Where there are two irrigation reservoirs, one has to cross the bed of Rª do Fundo Portal and reach the village of Praia Branca over the left slope. There are two parallel main streets through the village. Having entered the northern one, one has to switch over ê to the southern one that passes by ç the church [PRAI02] and some shops before it descends é to the health post. [PRAI01] (180 m) (shop, telephone, Health Post) The chances to meet an Aluguer to Tarrafal are not too bad.

Starting point in the opposite direction is the crossing at the health post of Praia Branca. [PRAI01] (180 m) If the driver takes one into the village, it is even better! The streets through the village lead to the one [PRAI03] leading to the valley of Odjo di Água.
