The valley of Queimadas is full of history and gives a good impression of the agricultural landscapes. In the lower parts there is irrigated land where sugar cane grows and is processed in bull-driven sugar mills trapiche and the open fire distillation of white rum. On the ground of the valley grow yams, mango-trees and breadfruit trees. Passing the traditional dwellings of Queimadas de Cima, dry land agriculture of maize, potatoes and sweet potatoes and pastureland on steep slopes accompany one's way over a pass and later down into the valley of Rª Brava and Todj. Starting point is the church of Queimadas [QUEIM9] (110m) (shop, phone). At the bifurcation a few meters downhill [QUEIMA], one is led into the valley ê which passes a slight ridge before going down and crossing the riverbed. [QUEI11] (130m) This is where the paved mule-track starts to climb and reaches the entry to a village after 100m [QUEI12]. Here one has to choose the bigger ç of the alternative branches, circling around the village uphill and leading into a transverse path on top of the settlement î . [QUEI13]. After passing the village of Terra Quebrada [QUEI15] (320m) a last rise ê leads to the pass QUEI16] (448 m) and one can enjoy the panorama overlooking Rª Brava and Monte Gordo. Take a horizontal path before walking down î to the houses of Lombo Branco. The defile è leads down to the road at Todj. [TODJ] (215m) (shop, telephone)
