Outline of Tracks
|
This is "Track Nr.1" for those who have just a single day to spend to discover the island walking. In connection with track 105 it gives the best introduction possible to the variety of landscapes. One passes by the rich vegetation on the ground of Rª Brava, through irrigated terraces, crosses through ancestral villages, encounters volcanic rocks that resemble gigantic walls and slides under huge trees with the wonderful name of Bela Sombra (nice shadow). On the height (hilltop?), the little village of Cachaço and even more the chapel of Nossa Senhora do Monte offer a perfect view and the right setting for a longer rest.
Starting point is the endpoint of track 105 close to the ford in Campinho. [CAMP11] (220m) One follows the road uphill í , crosses Campinho Sul and ç Água das Patas to the very end of the road [PATA02] (300m). The following mule track ë is even steeper, leading up to the village of Cachaço right on the pass. At the first crossways one can choose between the little road é to the school and the other to the chapel. The main road is just a few meters ç straight-ahead [CACHAC] (706m) (telephone, shop, village health post).
