The ground of the valley of Ribeira Brava is protected from the merciless trade-winds. It gets regularly flooded, so it offers permanently some underground water, offering conducive conditions to the flora that got lost over half a century of drought. The wild vegetation as much as the gardens seem to be a unique cape Verdean botanical garden. People who love plants would easily spend an interesting day here and will come back soon.

Starting point is the fountain in Rua Amilcar Cabral, where the road to Água das Patas leaves Vila Rª Brava. [VILA03] (105m) The tiny road on the ground of the river ç changes after a few meters into a donkey’s path. After passing several gardens one reaches the water point of Talho [TALH01] (180m). About 150m further on, still walking on the ground of the valley ë , a rocky obstacle has to be climbed over some steps. After another 100m one discovers a dam, hindering from continuing on the ground. Climb the right-hand shoulder (South!) of the valley, pass the dam and reach the road through Campinho. [CAMP11] (220m)

The starting point in opposite direction lies only a few meters south of the ford in Campinho. Sideways of a small agricultural building, beneath a modern concrete dwelling, the humble path leads î to the right shoulder of the valley. [CAMP11] (220m) After passing the dam, climb down to the ground.
