This modern B&B pension is located directly at the wide beach of Calhau.
The impressive panorama starts at the little inactive volcanos behind the weekend-settlement of Calhau, goes out over the Atlantic to the neighbouring island of São Nicolau and ends, to the west, at the barren hills of the deserted island of Santa Luzia. "At the rear door", like in a textbook about volcanism, little Vulcão Viana stands for a young incactive volcano, while the majestic basalt columns of Pico de Vento represent an old, mostly eroded volcano.

São Vicente is not reknown as a classical hiking resort, but nevertheless, there are interesting - and challenging tracks to hike and four of them touch Calhau. The days here are not at all restricted to swimming, fishing and beachcoombing.

The western beach of Calhau extends right in front of the house.
Sporty natures will like to explore the sandy beach of Praia Grande as well, at a distance of some 5 min by car or 30 min of walk.
5 min of walk to the weekend-resort and Restaurant Hamburgo.
Bush taxis go regularly to Mindelo town (18km).

The 10 spacy rooms are completely and comfortably equipped and beds accomodate tall people without problems. All of them overlook the beach, some of them with (very) sunny restplaces outside.

The french owners manage the house themselves and try to accommodate all needs and wishes of their guests. A rich breakfast is included and on appointment supper can be provided.
