Why Kindergardens?

For the development of a country, the dignity of its citizens and for peace, education, especially the education of girls and women, is of utmost importance. 

Preschool Education enables parents who haven't got schooling themselves, to accompany the school career of their children successfully. 

Social marginalization, malnutrition and lacking intellectual stimulization  are best compensated for by the educational and social works approach. 

Coverage

Primary School Education already has reached full geographical coverage, but Kindergardens are still missing. Only 20 years ago, the first Kindergarten Santo Antão opened its doors. Full coverage is the aim. This means at least one facility per 1000 inhabitants - in rural areas with scattered settlement even more.

Pedagogic Programm

"Clean and well-fed", a warm lunch every day, hygiene and hygiene education had to characterize the first phase of preschool education in rural areas and in the slums.

Today, the life-long learning process, going far beyond simple physical survival, has gained importance. Aside of training in societal rules and social behaviour, first mathematical and physical concepts are tought.

Confrontation with the social environment and Lebenswelt is fostered, e.g., through mutual visits between Kindergardens in the mountains and those at the shore.

Continued training and supervision of staff is going to guarantee minimal standards and the exchange of experience.
