The
National Park "Pico da Antónia" is
named after the highest mountain on the island of Santiago
and one of the biggest forest areas in the country.
To the West it is more hilly, while to the East, huge
rocks dived the mountain range from the green valleys
of Orgãos. It offers hiking tracks of diffent
degrees.
Pousada Quinta
da Montanha is a rural hotel for hikers and
for the time being the only accommodation next
to the partk. The quiet surrounding is ideal for
relaxing. Hikers get competent advice and when
needed, like for the ascent to the summit of Pico
da Antonia, appointments with local guides are
made.
On sundays, people
from Praia come up in the mountains to get out of
heat, noise and dust and enjoy the excellent buffet
at noon.
The owners are
academically trained agriculturalists and competent
hotel managers. They provide the kitchen with bio-food
from their own ranch.
Rooms (28) are
modern and well equipped with private bath /WC, TV
and a
secretary. Thanks to the moutain-climate, AC isn't
needed, not even in summer.
