Cape Ponta d' Atum'
What once was a glistening
basalt cube, far behind the fields, became
a flowering garden and
one of the most beautiful hotel compounds
in Cape Verde.
The german owners, experienced
in Cape Verde for more than 30 years, rent
only six luxurious apartments. All of them
are spacy with excellent equipment, full size
kitchen
and private bathrooms.
Most of them have a partly shaded terrace outdoors
for relaxing and sunbathing.
A rich breakfast is brought
to the appartments on appointment.
A variety
of restaurants is found within 15 min of walk.
The urban center with shops and alle the likes
and dislikes of urban life, are at the
same distance.
For experienced swimmers, the
rocky bay in front of the house with its cristal
clear water is ideal.
Out of bed ... splish splash...
into the water.
The white
sandy beach of Tarrafal is a short 10 min
walk away.

diving-school King Bay
Ponta d' Atum got its name
from the gigantic basalt columns forming a
wall deep under the sea. In some places it
is so deep, yellow fin tuna was captured
with a hand-lines from the land.
Today it is the ideal diving
ground. Lessons are given on the sandy ground
of the bay in front of the house. Most exciting
divespots are within 15 min by boat. But the
most important and richest resource of the
school is its director, Monaya. As
a marine biologist and diver he
is the author of the most outstanding publications
on Cape Verde's marine arqueological treasures
... and a fighter against all kind of robbery
and destruction.
Groups are small, the equipment
excellent.
