  
Eito is
one of the traditional villages on Santo
Antão of sugar-cane farmers, traders, craftsmen
living in the middle of sugar plantations, papayas
and mango trees. For the time being, life continues
untouched by the big tourism business and whoever wants
to enjoy traditional rural life is welcome.
German
born Sabine
Jähnel left Berlin more than twenty years
ago and made up a simple but cosy home for her
children, herself and a few guests in private rooms.
Located
some 100 m from the mainroad, the rooms offer clean
and quiet budget-accommodation in private rooms with
a nice view over sugar cane plantations and up into
the mountain range.
Most
guests are hikers loving the simple and fullhearted
atmosphere of mountain-cabins. They come down track
101 from the Crater of Paúl.
The central location in the lower part of the valley
gives easy acces within 10 min of walk to the best
ascent to zum Pico
da Cruz [103] via Ribeirãozinho and
to the valley of Figueiral
de Paúl [102]
reknown for ist abundant variety of plants. For a
week of hike, Sabine's is quite an excellent start
point, not to forget about her intimate knowledge
of the island and its culture.
The
kitchen offers a good Mix of european and cape verdean
meals, allways trying to meet the guests needs. This
is the reason why breakfast ist not routinely included
and Guest can order what they prefer. On appointment,
supper is offered as well.
For
guest who wish so, a driver can meet them at the
harbour of Porto Novo. This opens the oportunity
to have the luggage find it's way to Sabine's at
its own and make use of the day of arrival for a
first hike, down from the crater to Eito (3
1/2 hours) vom Krater der Cova de Paúl
to Eito.
Supermarkett,
Bank, hospital, post-office etc. are found in Ribeira
Grande, half an hour by bush-taxi away.

vary according to season and length of stay. Single rooms
are 15% to 40% cheaper in Cape Verde.
